CITs and Crew Camp

Counselor in Training Opportunities and Crew Camp Weeks (for kids 12+)

Counselors in Training

Campers 12 years and up who enjoy working with their younger peers are invited to join us as CITs (Counselors in Training).

This is a great opportunity for young people who would like to get more involved with childcare opportunities (i.e. babysitting connections, mentor experience, work references). It’s also a great way for them to share their love of the farm with younger kids! You need not have been a camper to become a CIT, but those who are not familiar with the farm are invited to visit beforehand to get a sense of the land and the expectations of Farm Camp.

CITs are expected to read and be familiar with the expectations in our CIT Handbook and attend debriefing sessions at 8:20AM Monday morning before their camp week, as well as at 3:10PM Wednesday and Friday afternoons.

Camp costs

$125/week for CITs . Includes a vegetable share at the end of week, meeting time with the head counselors, access to arts and crafts materials, and the experience of a lifetime! Contact

CIT opportunities are available Monday thru Friday for every week that Farm and Garden Camp is offered.

Dates: Weeks of June 11, 18, 25, July 9, 16, 23, 30, Aug 6, 13, 20.

Crew Camp

Crew Camp is a new addition to our line up designed to serve kids who love farm work.  We are looking here for the kids who turn to us at game times and ask if there are more chores or if the animals need anything.  This camp is led by farm employees who need to get things accomplished in their day and are happy to have kids join them in that effort.  Don’t get us wrong, we have fun doing work, but it’s important to note that though we take breaks and may end up engaging in some activities for no reason other than our own enrichment/enjoyment, the focus here is on serving the farm.  Some kids come to us as five year olds ready and willing to work like this, others grow into it,  and some will never enjoy it and shouldn’t register to participate in this camp.

2018 Dates:  June 11-15.   July 9-13.    July 30-Aug 3.     Aug 20-24.
Camp costs

$175/week for Crew Camp Members. Includes a vegetable share at the end of week, lots of time with an experienced farmer, skill building in activities like milking, fencing, gardening, halter training, carpentry, etc.  We do make exceptions to the age limit for kids we think will be a good fit for this program.   If your child has come to camp here before, or you have questions, we are happy to talk to you about whether we think your child would enjoy the program.
